On September 20, 2024, Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities, Roger M. Wakimoto announced the appointment of Professor Hal Monbouquette as his special adviser on the UCLA Research Park. In 2024, UCLA acquired the Westside Pavilion mall. The mall will be converted into the UCLA Research Park and will support its 2023-28 Strategic Plan to strengthen its connection with L.A. and the broader community.
